Power Devil Jig Saw?

Hi , I have a Power Devil Jig saw Model PDX2JSB which runs for 10 seconds and then stops. Does anyone know how to fix it or can fix it? Regards, Trevor

Answering about a decade late, but if it runs, it kind of works. So what might stop it from running more than 10secs? It could be a safety feature or a loose connection as vibration & heat are what happens when it runs. Something could be miss-aligned causing friction and strain on the motor which is then stopped by a heat or excess voltage fuse.

Alternatively, the vibration could be shaking a loose connection, which then springs back when stopped. How long before the machine can be run again? If it's a fairly fixed time, then that could be a thermal fuse cooling and resetting. Does the machine run Ok without the blade in? Does it need a clean? If you disconnect from the power and open the case, can you see anything that might be rubbing on the mechanism or is it actually bent? Might the parts need some grease or oil?

Throw it away. These are badged up Chinese no-name cheapo stuff. Get a proper branded one - Bosch etc.
