Solenoid needed for Carron Cordon Bleu 5 Deluxe?

Hello

We have just bought a house which contains a spotless Carron Cordon Bleu 5 De Luxe gas range cooker. It's a rather marvellous thing but unfortunately the main oven doesn't work.

There is no sound or gas or ignition when I turn the main oven control on and I think it needs a new Solenoid from researching it, but am finding it impossible to get hold of one.

Does anyone have any spare parts for this oven?? It seems such a shame not to repair it if we can as its obviously worked and been looked after for 30 odd years!

Many thanks
Katie

You could do worse than contact these people

You may be able to check the gas valve is actually getting an "open" command and eliminate anything upstream. If it is mains powered, a (very) low wattage bulb should be fine - maybe a 240V LED bulb in a holder and a couple of flying leads but BE CAREFUL. If you are not confident you understand what you are doing, find a techie chum

Thanks yes it's on manual and it does indeed have a solenoid, its a v old gas range cooker and I have the service instructions. Thanks for your suggestions though! Katie

Have you set the clock? Is it on auto timer?

Possibly the reason you can't find a solenoid is that perhaps the cooker does not have a solenoid - my range cooker doesn't have a solenoid. But the oven is electric so I know nothing...

Good Luck..., July 2016
