Why does my hedge trimmer cut out after a little use ?

My hedge cutter cuts out after little use and struggles to start after that, it's like it's over heating yet only does a 1m high hedge and about 3m long but don't get to the end before it cuts out

Perhaps it is over heating - perhaps the blades are gummed up with plant juices. Perhaps it would help to separate the blades from on another and to give them a good clean.
