Kenmore Quiet Guard 1 cycle problems?

Usually when you start this machine, you need to choose the cycle and then press start. Now when I push the "normal wash" cycle, the danged thing starts running, but only for a few minutes, like it is trying to drain. The lights are not working either. I pushed and held the heated dry button for 10 seconds and then the normal wash and heavy wash lights begin to blink. When the pots and pans, light wash and quick rinse buttons are pushed, they illuminate but do not start the cycle when the start button is pushed. The heated dry button does nothing after the 4 second mark to "lock" the washer. The delay button does not work either. Tried to cycle the power by unplugging for 5 minutes, but nothing happened with that. Any ideas other than buying a new one?

you could always do a search to find out what the flashing lights are trying to tell you is wrong.

It may be the anti-flood switch has been triggered.
