Lightbulb gone, and no sound from fan when we open the door. The fridge and freezer are still working.

Without even the brand name or specific model number we cannot provide any specific advice.
In general, if the lightbulb has gone, change it for a new one.
On most fridge / freezers the circulation fan will always stop when you open the door so it does not draw in warm air.
I would suggest you have no problems at all apart from needing a new bulb.
