If you have the original operating system cd insert it in your cd rom and reinstall from there you will have to set your cd to be the first boot device this is done in the bios setup which can be accessed by pressing del on boot up then going to the second option down then setting the drive option then come out of the bios saving your settings then allow the pc to boot then the reinstall should begin have your product key at hand as you will have to enter it

if you are running winXP set your computer to search the cdrom on boot up and pop in your disk and run set up again XP with say there is already a operating system on this computer and it will ask you if you want to repair it choose this and all done no files lost :)
