1965 Singer 275k sewing machine foot pedal?

1965 Singer 275k sewing machine foot pedal? machine runs at full power when plugged in. Foot pedal is a brown Style J 230V. Singer foot controller. Any help would be appreciated. PA

its the capacitor in the pedal, if the machine just goes on full power straight away, the capacitor in the pedal has gone. it is a small square with 2 wires coming off it. Due to age, they usually crack, just remove it and the pedal will work fine.
