How do I change the drum bearings on my Indesit W161?

The bearings have become nosy and need replacing,
I have checked that it is the drum bearings and have sourced replacements. I need to know the best way to strip it down in situ. and replace the bearings and seal.

I am just trying to remove the drum on a WM53 hotpoint the bearing wont shift the shaft is ok but the housing in the plastic drum looks to be too big.
The machine is in as many bits as previously mentioned.
I suspect if I get it together it will not last long.
The machine has had a door seal a motor brushes
a belt and it was leaking from the drum.
Not a patch on my old Zanusi

The new Indesit machines are in my opinion the worst cr*p on the market but be warned that Indesit, Hotpoint, Ariston,Creda are all the same company so do not purchase any of these makes. Try Bosch or Miele they are more expensive but a better bet.

You need to undo the star headed screws and hope there is no problem with the shaft or else the whole drum assembly will need replacing . Best suggestion buy a better machine mine has failed at 14 months old !! not very reliable

I have just replaced the drum bearings on a Hotpoint WM53. This job is not for the faint hearted as you literally have to take the machine completely apart (the only thing I had left connected was the control board).

I found it easiest to do the job in my garage where I had plenty of room.

If you do go for it, I recommend that you change the drum spindle as well as the bearings - after all, you do not want to do this job very often!

Hope this helps
