Canon coalridge gas fire.
Pilot light ignites but on releasing control knob to turn up the fire the pilot light goes out.

Thermocouple has failed or possibly doesn't have a good connection. Have a Gas Safe certified engineer service it. You can't legally work on it if you're not so certified.
