Shredder won't turn off in between shredding documents?

should there be a little green plastic piece in the shredding area of the as1019cs

I imagine that the little green plastic piece is the sensor (micro switch) which detects paper in the slot and starts the shredding. If this switch gets stuck, the machine will think there is always paper to shred. Try checking for what is touching the little green piece.
