How to reach the winscreenwash pump of Renault Clio?

I try to reach the windscreenwash pump of my Renault Clio 1.6 (1999) and suspect it is located underneath the windscreenwash reservoir. This is located underneath the plastic panel placed between the hood and the windscreen. I have to remove the wipers first, but that is not so easy as it looks. I unscrewed the bolts, but I cannot get any movement in the wipers. It looks the bolts were there only for the show. What did I do wrong?

Same problem. brute force is the key and dont be scared.
lift the wiper from the windscreen, grab the bit where the nut was in one hand and the bit that is now sticking in the air with the other now its kinda like trying to rub your belly while tapping your head..... move first hand horizontally left to right and then second one on bit in the air up and down. give it some welly and they will come away eventually.

I managed to free the wipers from the splines with a sharp tap of a hammer on the head of the spline whilst pulling upward at the base of the blade at the same time. Took a while and some patience but once freed the blades came off the splines easily. In my experience, you do not need to undo the arms connecting the 2 wipers, the pump can be removed from my 1999 clio 16v without removing the water reservoir.

Hi I have just changed ours, it is a bit of a pain ! If you have removed the wiper bolts, then you need to pull the wipers off, this took me quite some time. They are on a tapered spline and it took a lot of effort to get them off. You will then be able to remove the 2 bits of plastic under the windscreen - just a couple of plastic tabs. You then need to undo the bolts on the arms joining the 2 wipers - easy enough ! Then wilth a little juggling the washer bottle will lift out and you can get to the pump. - Good luck !!
