Would really need to know what make and model your laptop is to give you an accurate answer. Replacing or repairing the touchpad requires disassembling the laptop. You should only do this if you are confident in your abilities and don't mind taking a chance that your laptop will not work at all when you finish. Otherwise take it to a repair shop or try using an external mouse.
