no dvd/cd driver recognised?

in my computor it says i dont have a dvd drive and cant read any discs can any one help has the connection become loose help its a presario v4000

it may be to do with the drivers in which case your screwed i have the same problem and have been searching the net for drivers for about a month now so good luck.
