DVD Burner faliure! Can I change drive?

I have a Lite-on dvd recorder LWV 5001 and the drive has stopped functioning. Any disk I put in, it comes up with 'No disk' or 'fail'. If the drive is no good anymore can I put in any make of dvd recorder or does it have to be a Lite-on.

you can put in any dvd writer i personally prefer pioneer.
just remove the Lite-on writer and plug in the new writer.
make sure it is set as master or slave, just see what the Lite-on
is set up as and set the new writer up the same.
