How do I remove and install ignition switch in 92 nissan micra?

My car key snaped in the ignition switch on my 1992 Nissan Micra. So I pulled out half a key. The other half is still inside the ignition switch. How do I remove the ignition switch and replace it with a new one? I can't find any manuals and don't have the money for a mechanic.

Please help its my mom's car. Uggh

Remove the Steering Wheel

To remove the Steering wheel, remove 2 screws on the back of the S/wheel. Remove Horn wire, take off the Centre, remove Nut in the Centre of the S/wheel. After giving the S/wheel a good thump with the palms of the hands it should pop off, if not a puller is required.

Remove the plastic covers around the steering column

Disconnect the wiring from the Ignition switch

The steering lock is secured by 2 crosshead (philips) Screws and 2 Shear screws

Unscrew the 2 philips screws and Drill out the shear type ones and remove the Ignition switch

Refit the Ignition switch by alligning it with the Hole in the outer coloumn, locate the clamp plate and insert the screws finger tight

Make sure the lock operates properly then tighten the philips screws. Then tighten the shear screws until the heads break off

reconnect the wiring, covers and steering wheel not forgetting the Horn wire.

Goto your nearest (big) local library. They should have a Haynes manual for your car.
Photocopy the pages you need.
Say thank you to the nice librarian !!
or, ask at a local car accessory shop how to do the job and tell all your friends to get their car stuff there !!
Good Luck,
Val.
