1993 Escort 1.6i LX: Do I need to replace starter motor or spar kplugs?

Hi,

My escort has been stood for a few months without the enging being turned over. I charged the battery for 24 hours and today tried to start her up. The starter motor doesn't always kick hi (often a large whining sound is heard) and when it does turn the engine it won't fire.

help? I need to get this car running asap!

Try hitting the starter a few taps of a hammer, Not too hard or you might crack the casing. If that helps go for the WD40 , spay into starter (if possible), where it joins the engine.

I have the same damned problem. It takes 15 tries before the car will fire up. I looked at all of the starting system components, and I agree that a new starter is needed. The bendix simply isnt holding the starter spindle out long enough to allow it to turn the flywheel long enough for the car to start. From what I have read on these forums, though, you don't need a mechanic....you need fire insurance!

it sounds like your in need of a new starter motr m8t .also spray your joints with some wd40 that may just do the trick
