gloss paint on house bricks?

the previous occupant of my house where a little slap happy when painting the wooden windows to say the least. We have replaced the windows and this has made even more obvious the mess they left down the sides of the windows. There is even a white diagonal line on paint on the brickwork where they have painted open windows. Does any one know a way to remove old gloss paint from bricks without damaging the bricks?

put paint stripper on the affected areas, let it sit foe 10 mins to actavate then gently scrape with a flat scruedriver

Thanks Bob, rubbing with a similar brick is worth a try, before I try horrible chemicals.
Cheers

I suggest you contact your nearest Builders merchant. You will get better advice.
I can only suggest paint stripper, follow the containers instructions, or a strong caustic soda mix but wear gloves and eyeshields.then with a scrubbing brush clean off the bricks.
If soft reds bricks are involved get one from the builders merchant and cut a quarter size off and rub it over the cleaned area.
