How to change battery in Royal 9150 cash register?

My Royal Alpha 9150 Cash Register needs a new battery (for memory backup). The repair shop wants over $100 to change the battery. The cash register isn't worth that. How can I change the battery myself? Where do I get the battery?

easy 5 min job you can do your self and for a few quid
1st of all i was a till engineer for 3 years works for epos cash registers owned by my mums friend

all tills new and old all run same way they all have a back up battery in them there all lithium batterys same princable as a pc there job is just to keep the memory when off and will trickel charge when the till is on, alot of shop keepers keep the old till as a back up so due to being off the batterys are still keeping the memory but unable to recarge there selfs so if thats the case id sugest living the till plugged in and terned on for 24 hours to see if it will take a charge, failing that then the batterys are no good and will need 2 be replaced
to replace them its easy
1,there will be 2 screews either on the back or one one each side at the rear tho sum will have 4 one the side one in each corner
2, undo the screews and remove the till roll cover and any till rolls as sumtimes theres a screew in there holding the center to the base
3,remove the case by lifting the back and slide it backwards (if only screewed at rear) or lift up if screwed in all corners, the only wires to lift with it will be the rear or pop up display dont worry about it the leads are long enough to lift off the cover and place on its side next to the base
4, now the covers off ul see the mother board ul need to look for either
a, a gray round plastick case or it maybe yellow . these are like 2 large watch batterys in a gray or yellow sleve.
2, or look for ablock of what would look like 2 or 3 aa size batterys again will be in a sleave
5, when you find the battery it will have 2 wires from it black/red follow the wires to the board
6, unplug from the board

now the batterys out
take battery to a electical shop or a car alarm shop and ask for a lithium battery same as or close as urs (dont need to be the same) longs its got a pos one end and a ned the other
now u have the battry out cut off the sleave so you can see the pos and the neg on the battery
to replace you will need to cut both wires off closest to the battery leaving abit so you can see what wire connects to the neg or pos
take a soldering iron and look at old battery to check the neg and pos then solder the wiers back on
7, plug into mother board
8. replace case
9, tern on set time date ect ect
10, leave till on 12 hours to chatge new battery and your all done

how ever if its a BATTERY Operated (not plugged in to mains)you will find you may have to buy a new power battery
