i have exactly same problem - intermitent cut out / lack of fuel - starts to go and then cuts out on a hill - cleaned out all pipes and glass bowl filters - cant find a replacement lift pump - anyone know where i can get one?

You say the fuel pump works but is it when you cut out. I think that the puimp on this was similar to one used on some landrovers of the same vintage and there is a relay on them that can play up intermittently - usually when hot.

try glass bowl filter between tank and filters. remove and clean.

It may be the cutoff valve on the fuel pump. next time it dose it have someone take off an injector pipe and watch for fuel being pumped out in short bursts while someone else is turning the engine over on the starter.

Also check for broken wires or durty connections on the pump

Hi Phil,
I had a ford cargo that cut out AFTER you went up a hill. I had to stop for 3 to 5 minits befor it would starts. try going up a steep hill to see if it cut out?
I replace the fuel lift pump and it stoped the problem.
hope this helps you. Mark.
