my 95 ford escort encore drivers side door will not unlock with the key but it will lock with it. is there a way to fix this

I have same problem on identical model escort. If you don't want to have 2 keys (i.e. a new lock) then find someone who can build a lock around your existing key - my local Ford dealer service dept will do my lock for £41 - that's the parts and labour, which, although pricey for one lock, means I keep the same key all round. Beware, just in case you were thinking of it, that buying a new or second hand complete lock set will also mean havin to have the new keys chipped for the immobilisor - setting you back another £30 or so.

new lock means new key. dont want several keys when one will do. can locks be ordered to fit particular keys?
