How can I fix my Canon AE-1 Manual Camera?

The camera Im using for a high school photography class shutter button thing on top of the camera, doesn't take a picture when I hold it down all the way, but it was before. I think it's just stuck, but I can't figure out how to get it unstuck.

Hi Jessy,
It sounds like you need to replace the battery.
in these cameras when the battery dies the shutter button and other function lock-up.
this might take (2) 3volt button batteries or a 6 volt photo battery. in either case it will cost you approx. 6-8 dollars to fix.
button battery compartment is located on the bottom of the body. open it with a coin.
6 volt battery compartment is in the front of the body. open it with your fingernail.
Tip: if this fixes it buy 2
photographer's rule #1 Always carry a spare battery.
Good luck

try the obvious like a new battery or clean the contacts in the battery compartment.
