Just remove the set screw and put the chuck in a vise and go in reverse

if it has a torqs screw inside the chuck,it should be a t15, it was a dc988 xrp that i changed, dont use a hollow security torqs drive, this will smash.it is a left hand thread so undo clockwise. the chuck is right hand thread so undo anticlockwise.you will have to hold the drill in in a vice,if it is an xrp hold it on the steel part.put the drill in the highest torqs setting and in first gear, the t15 screw is quite tight so take care.when undoing the chuck put the short end of a 10mm alen key in the chuck(tight)then hit the overhang of the key with a hammer, this should shock it off.good luck

If you have a drill that is overly worn and the allen wrench spins the chuck, gearbox, and motor all in one, you may find a solution posted for the question, "How do you remove the chuck from a DeWalt keyless 1/2 inch drill?", on this forum.
