worcester bosch 230 combi rsf?

worcester bosch 230 combi rsf

Hi I have a worcester bosch 230 combi rsf and believe the Diverter valve is faulty. I have central heating which works fine, but no hot water. if heating is on and i call for hot water it sounds as though it is switching over but we only get cold water, also if heating is off and we call for hot water, the boiler will not fire up.
is the diverter valve easy to change etc and how much are they?
any help or info would be most appreciated.
it has been suggested the flow switch may be faulty, but i have been onto worcester who said there is no flow switch on this model.

hi, my 230 was working last night on ch only ,the next day the pressure was low so put pressure up to 1.5 bar. when you turn water on for hot water the boiler does not fire, the fan comes on and nothing else. this is the same for central heating.incidently the reset but usually pops up when the pressure gets low it has not popped up its remained down. so now i have no hot water or hot central heating i hope you can help . regards brian h

the diverter valve is quite easy to remove once the water is turned off if you go to a plumbing center and ask for a diaphragm for the diverter valve they are easy to fit and a lot cheaper than buying a full valve

Hi, I have just changed a 320rsf diverter valve with no problems. I got the valve from EZYPART on the net it cost £61.53 including next day parcel force delivery also included all conection seals (should be replaced) it may help to download a service sheet, this gives full instructions. hope this helps. hi the diverter valve needs changining, this is not a part you can do your self, if done wrong you will flood your house.
a valve for this boiler is about £90 with fiting you should only pay about £220. hope this helps

Worcester are right, it doesn't have a flow switch but some people call the diverter valve micro-switch by that name.
If there is no response from the boiler when you turn on the tap(i.e. no pump or fan) the diverter valve is probably faulty.
They can often be repaired but not always. Either way involves isolating and draining the boiler and refilling and venting.
Like most thing its easy if you know how but can go wrong in lots of ways. If you are good with machinery and basic plumbing, not so bad.
If you are not i'd suggest getting someone in.
Look for service engineers or ask if they have re-built valves before when you speak to them.
Most of the guys i know do rebuilds and the price varies from £70--£110 depending on which repair kits they use and how well the job goes.
A new valve fitted could be £150--£200 again depends how it goes. Also depends where you live in the u.k.
We don't all end up on Rogue Traders and its just a shame they don't do programs about the thousands of good tradespeople out here. Good luck whichever way you go...
