i have a whirlpool side by side american style fridge freezer,have had engineer out they didnt no what caused the fridge to freeze the contents of the fridge ,not all the time but quiet often

I have read on the net from an engineer that whirlpool side by side fridge freezers have a design fault in the cooling unit. It ices up and makes the polystyrene all soggy and then the fan stops working. This has happened to mine twice now. Mine also started with the contents of the fridge freezing and developed into the fan stopping working and a large lump of ice developed behind the drawers which eventually froze the water dispenser. This has been replaced once and is now about to be replaced again a month later. Yes you guessed it the engineer cant come until after Christmas! Try defrosting it.
