yes tony is right but if you have a rose in the middle of the ceiling get a roll of paper go center of rose mark ceiling with a pencil then mark each length back to wall you will probably end up with only half a roll or less then measure this mark ceiling each end and pin a chalk line if you have one you can use a straight edge and mark with a pencil this is your first peace you put up avoiding a full length over the rose. remember allways allow extra for triming.

Papering a ceiling is not as difficult as it looks if you are competent at papering. No need for special paste - although I always recommend getting some decent branded adhesive. Some cheap ones are a bit nasty and don't slip well.

Simple paper as normal, following the paste instructions for the type of paper you are using.

Concertina your drops of paper quite tightly and let out slowly as you move along the ceiling.

What helps enormously is if you can move along the lenght of the drop easily while touching the ceiling. What you really need is a strong plank between two sets of steps to act as a platform.

Main problem to look out for is paste in eyes, ears, mouth when sizing / papering - try to avoid this, it's nasty stuff.

Hope the above helps
