Mower cuts out and quits?

My mower (craftsman 18.5 HP 42" Model # 917.273634) starts and will run while choked, but as soon as I move the lever off choke, it cuts out and quits. We have cleaned or replaced all filters (fuel, air) and the cylinoid (sp?) The carburetor has also been cleaned.
