how can i fix my hoover ca 230 washing machine .no spin?

my hoover ca 230 washer will not spin.it empties the water but not go into spin mode

Sounds like the brushes on the motor need changing .... had a similar problem on a Hotpoint that turned out to be the brushes even though the wash cycle was ok.
