My machine ( Whirlpool washer) won't agitate?

My machine won't agitate to wash the clothes. It just started this. I heard a funny sound, which is the motor, but it won't budge. I've felt with my hands under the agitater, but haven't found anything that would be stuck under it. Is this something that can be fixed? Or am I in need of a new machine? This washer is about 8-10 years old. It's been a great washer up to now.

I'm sure I'm putting this in the wrong place, but I have the same problem, but the tub doesn't drain. I get no errors, I've gone through the entire tech guide and run all the diagnostics and checked everything and I can't seem to find it. The motor is not making any sound on mine, though. There were a couple of strange things in the tests, though. One is checking the resistance on the "off balance solenoid switch", which is what I thought was the problem in the first place... I'm supposed to get 1.2 Ω and if I get anything way over or way under, that's supposed to be the problem. Well, I'm, getting 1.2 KiloΩ (is that how u write it?). Is that just a typo? it seems kinda coincidental that they're both 1.2. Also, the other solenoids are all supposed to measure 800-1200 Ω. I apologize if I posted this incorrectly, I just thought since the problem seemed so close in nature...

The flexible coupling between the motor and transmission has broken - easy repair IF YOU'VE DONE IT BEFORE.

If I'm correct machine will fill with water, empty the water but won't agitate or spin.
