how can i fix my Grundig Sky digital box?

After only 14 months my sky digi box has broken down, it still powers up, but I get message 'no signal being received', had everything checked out and put another box on from a neighbour to prove it was the box. Now I need to repair my box anybody got any advice, I have reasonable knowledge about repairing things but would need pointing in the right direction

As it is a grundig box, and the time frame after which it failed, it sounds like one or more of the capacitors in the PSU has failed. This is due to grundig inadvertently using substandard capacitors(see http://www.niccomp.com/taiwanlowesr.htm for details). If you are feeling handy with a soldering iron (and you know what you are doing when it comes to mains appliances) you could open the box up and look for signs of capacitor failure(excellent guide and pics at http://www.satcure.co.uk/gds200.htm). I had a similar problem, and fixed it by replacing one of the capacitors from that from an old bust video.

I can't help you with fixing it, but for what it is worth I'll pass on one thing I know about these boxes - they hate getting too hot. Ensure that it is well ventilated.

I used to keep my Grundig in my TV cabinet. I used to get picture breakup on hotter days. Now I keep the box outside the TV cabinet it works fine.
