How can I remove a tape from a Canon MV3 camcorder?

When I try to eject the tape from a Canon MV3 digital video camcorder, there is just a 'whirring' sound and the tape does not eject. I would be most grateful if anyone can make any suggestions that will help me overcome the problem Thanks in advance.

Open the camera's DV cassete door. Press the silver casing inwards very gently. It worked with my damaged tape.
