How can I fix Breville Lightning kettle in chrome?

I have a Breville Lightning kettle in chrome which lights up blue when it is plugged in and changed to red when you press the boil button. At the moment when it is plugged in it resembles a disco with the blue light flashing. The red light stays lit when you press the boil button. Can anyone advise me what is wrong?

The red light has gone on ours and we have had it less than a year

Our white plastic one (JK62) did the same, blue light failed after a week or so. Three kettle replacements under warranty later and we're back to square one. The red boil light comes on which at least is acceptable. Shouldn't really expect too much, after all it's there to boil water and not to be a disco. At least we have clean water and electricity and shouldn't complain too much about a faulty coloured led in a kettle.

I wish I knew! When we switch our's on it stays red as if it's boiled! Can't even get into the kettle because you need a special screwdriver! Solution buy a different make, as there seems to be a problem with this design.

Ours started doing the same thing and has now packed up. Upon examination the lever to switch on has plastic forks inside that flick the switch to make it work. The tongs on the plastic forks have snapped so it's goodnight vienna!
