Correction to my first answer: the name of the MS-word-file naturally was "asa.doc" (and not "asa.com")

I don't know whether this will help for your problem, but it might help others with a similar problem. Some time ago I bought an mp3-player Olitec Baladeur 512 Mb (ref.nr. 000587 at www.olitec.com) for cheap at Ebay, since it could only be used as a flash disk. When being used with a battery it just displayed "mp3-player" and then was hanging (even could not be turned off). I found an MS-Word-file "asa.com" on the player. After deleting it and formatting the player with the formatting-software from the OLITEC-CD all problems were solved and it worked fine again. Maybe that due to some firmware-bug non-mp3-files are tried to be opened on start-up, causing a fatal error?
