How can I fix spin dry problem on kenmore elite top load washer?

The washer appears to work normally but occassionally heavy items like towels or blue jeans do not spin as dry as they did before and a little soap is left in them. I do not see any standing water in the tub and when I look at the water drain it appears to have a full stream when pumping. The washer has push button controls.

Thanks Brad, It is a direct drive top load about 5 years old. I see no signs of leaks or rust. could it be the clutch and if so how can I check the clutch without removining it?

not sure hank wether or not ur machine is direct drive or belt driven but check belt tension for slippage or contamination to the belt like oil etc.

if it uses a brake solinoid ( a device to release the brake to spin bowl on spin cycle) this is found underneath the washer looks like a small transformer with a "T" comming out, these solinoids either get stuck from corrosion or water leakage / or go open circuit which only spins the agatitor and not the bowl on spin cycle causing wet and soapy clothes, sometime the force of the clothes being thrown against the side of the bowl will try to spin it still but may go out of balance as a result

good luck
