zanussi dishwasher heats up without water?

my zanussi dw15tcr heats up but no water enters so ot bakes the dirt on!! I thought the thermostat would trip or if the float switch failed it wouldn't let the machine run at all. Any ideas which part has gone ? timer,or solenoid water valve or float switch? I know machine is 10 yrs old sp parts could be difficult to get. Cheers busy dad

Same story on same machine. Tried to clean those syphon tubes. Doesn't help. Any other ideas?

The machine is trying to go through a cycle low on water as it thinks it has enough already. Remove the big filter pan in the sump under the lower basket. On the right hand side you will see a plastic "turret" with a cover. undo the cental screw, lift off cover. Inside are two syphon tubes, which also lift out. These are probably blocked with grease, or the associated pipework in the sump in the vicinity. Try clearing the syphon tubes out first. The correct fill level is about 1/2 inch above filter pan. Set cycle, listen 'till wash pump comes on. Turn off . Open door and check. Other problem, very unlikely, is pump running slow.

I don't know it that model has a pressure switch on it but if it has the bottle or the tube could be blocked, how have you tested the float switch? if not with a meter it still could be duff
