Hello Richard,
Take the top fo your machine off and you will see just right of the centre a long vertical bar with the top looking like a two pronged fork, in the middle of the fork is a cam, slacken off the screw on the cam and move the cam slightly, there should be a timing mark on the cam and on the topshaft which should be aligned up, unfortunately they are not always acurate, it may take several attempts.
