how can I fix my washing machine. Hotpoint 1200 First Addition?

my washing machine is not working, it has been a problem for a little while but you have to seriously bang the door for a connection, however it has decided to work no more, is there anything I should do obvious at first to repair and get it going?

also try tightening up the door hinge it may be loose, lift it slightly so the door pin meets the lock and then tighted the hinge
