why does my reverse light not work?

After replacing the reverse light bulb, it stll does not work, i have also checked the fuses.The car is a Ford Fiesta 1998 Zetec 1.4

More than likely to be the switch in the gearbox itself - usually has 2 wires going to it, and it unscrews.
