kenmore series 70 washer water fill will not stop filling up?

kenmore series 70 washer overflows during the fill cycle. and it will not stop filling at the rinse cycle either?

I just had this problem (3 days ago) with my Kenmore 90 series washer. Suspect that they are about the same. Could be one of 2 problems:

- Water fill valve : Does tub filling stop when you unplug washer or pull out washer knob ? If so, fill valve is not the problem. If filling continues, I'd suspect the fill valve.

- Water level control : Device behind the water level knob on the front panel. For my problem, it turns out that a friction-fit hose had disconnected from the water level control device, so device would always think that tub is empty, keep filling the tub, and never start wash/rinse agitation.

I was able to reattach the hose...using a small stainless steel hose clamp to make sure that this hose never slips off again. I had a pretty bad flood, but luckily caught in before my house floated down the street.
