Jaguar Boiler not running?

I have a Jaguar boiler approx 6 years old. The display time settings are on, but when you try to turn the boiler on nothing happens. There are no error messages on the display either.

Hi Sam, have you tried resetting the boiler, there are two ways of doing this, the first is by pressing the large button on the from display, this will not reset the clock!
the other way is by using a pencil and pressing in the small grey button to the right of the enter button, which should reset the clock.

Question, when you turn the boiler off at the wall and turn it back on, can you hear it doing a self check, you should hear the fan start and the pump turn for about 20 seconds? if not the chances are you may have a blown fuse on the board. It should be labled as Fuse 2 which is rated at T1.6A. you need to make sure that you replace it with exactly the same type. if this works you have sorted it, it blows the fuse again then you have a more serious fault an you need to get a corgi engineer on to it.

Beware if you are thinking of doing this yourself it uses 230Volt so it needs to be removed from the mains!!!

To gain access to the fuse, is by removing the front panel, one philips screw located underneath by the pull out instructions. the bottom of the cover moves froward an inch or two then you lift the cover up to the sky, its held in place by two pins. Next you will see the main control panel infront of you on the right of it is a clip, pull clip away from panel and the panel can be lowered, folds out from top, you then need to take out the 4 philips screws that hold the back of the panel in place, remove the cover and examin the fuse (Fuse 2). it is a good chance that it has blown. replace it and test if it works without blowing the fuse again you have fised it, if the fuse blows or nothing happens you need an engineer! every thing goes back together in reverse.

best of luck!

PS. I am not an engineer, but I know this boiler like the back of my hand! and to prove it I will not be buying another one in the future! I do not in anyway endorse DIY repairs on boilers!

sounds like an external control problem, ie room stats, zone valves, time clocks, something is not sending signal to the boiler to fire up
