My son accidentally dropped his DS Lite and now it won't turn on. When put on to charge, the charging light comes on but, again, nothing happens when you try to turn it on. Now there is a rattle coming from within the DS. Can this be fixed or do I have to replace the unit.

In my humble opinion the Nintendo DS Lite series is a nightmare with respect to trying to fix them (as someone who fixes a variety of things). The parts are way too expensive and you need one or more special screwdrivers (not torx or even tiny phillips style).
