how do you adjust handbrake? ?

I need to make an adjustment on the handbtake of our ford falcon forte au11. The handbrake lever requires excessive cranking to hold the vehicle. Would you advise how I can make this adjustment?

Thank you

Brake cbl's are NOT!! FOR ADJUSTING HANDBRAKE FUNCTION.they are only for free play at lever.Cables sieze, snap, rust ,but seldom strech.Assuming previous,99% of faults(including excess lever travel)are down to rear brake self adjuster failure(usually caused by over adjusting the handbrake)One or more of the rear brake self adjuster's is'nt working.Self adjuster's is a misleading term. They are actually adjusted by YOU! every time the handbrake lever is applied/released,but only if the handbrake lever has'nt been over tightend!Rear brakes need attention, rear brake self adjusters need unseizing and resetting.THEN YOU CAN ADJUST H'BRAKE LEVER FOR FREEPLAY.
