How can I fix my Ford 6 cd changer 6006E with Error 3?

I have got a Ford in dash cd player 6006E and it keeps giving me 'Error 3'. I have all 6 cd's stuck and want to know if there is a way that I can remove them and what that error means i.e. Is it completely broken?

This is a common problem with the 6006E. They do not seem to be designed to take different size CD's and if you have used a CD-R, Ford are not interested. The mechanics jump out of alignment and can sometimes cause other things to bend/break. To get your CD's out is quite difficult, depending on the status of the Laser track. If it is jammed above some CD's then it is a major strip down. Getting the ones above the Laser is a case of removing the lid, removing the two philips screws on the top gate and removing the top gate. You can ease the CD's out of the carrier one by one. It is easy to damage the unit beyond repair if it is not already. I have done a couple, let me know if you have no success as I would be able to get your CD's out and possibly repair it. I am in Yorkshire. Regards, Dave
