Every now and then this Maytag microwave doesn't work. The buttons all enter, there's a light on, but no power. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Now the motor isn't working. Timer works, clock works, time goes off the display but no microwaving. Occasionally says F-5

The key pad of my Maytag microwave oven, mounted over a range top, lost efficiency. Pressing a function several times would no produce any result. The only advice I found on the internet was NOT to use any ammonia based cleaners.

The solution is to keep the keypad scrupulously clean. I use baking soda and polish up with vinegar. Simple, but before lucking on this fix, I was close to trashing this product!

I have the same problem. I had to repair my microwave 3 times and it quit again. I have contacted my builder to get Maytag to replace the oven. Not much luck there, either. I think we got a lemon and I am certainly not getting very good customer service.
