childlocks?

I have a 1999 ford mondeo and the back door won't open, from inside or out. Nothing happens when either of the handles are pulled. Is there a way I can fix it without taking it into a garage

The lock connecting the door to the handle is cracked, I had the same thing with a Ford Escort Cosworth. Remove the door handle and get a car lock kit from Halfords. The instructions are inside the kit.
