Qualcast Quadtrak 30 Loss of power - Belt replacement?

Hi all,

I have a Qualcast Quadtrac30. all of a sudden the motor has made a different sound to normal and there seems to be a lack of power. The blade still spins but does not cut the grass. I'm guessing it could be a belt replacement is required. Has anyone had any experience of this? Am I looking in the right area, and most importantly does anyone have a procedure to do this? Thanks all !

My mower is making a strange noise but blade is not moving any ideas ?

I forgot to mention in my previous reply: After removing the lower housing and taking out the broken belt loosen the two large cross-cut screws. This will enable the toothed pinion to be moved so that the belt can be positioned in place. The belt can then be tensioned by hand and the screws tightened.

This can be done by working underneath the unit - don't remove anything on top like I've just done. I think you can change the belt by first of all removing the blade and then the three screws which secure the bottom half of the belt housing (not the two big ones). These screws could be difficult to find if the bottom of your mower is like mine and is covered with earth etc. Remove the bottom half of the belt housing. You will now have access to the belt.

I thought that if the blades were turning then the belt was ok.
