How can I fix my mobility scooter?

I have an RMA Shoprider Sovereign S888NR mobility scooter. New batteries have been fitted but when driving along the motor is constantly hunting and not able to keep a smooth and constant speed. Can anyone help?

I have now fixed it. The problem was caused by the motor brushes becoming stuck in their holders. All it needed was removal of the brushes, a clean up of the excess carbon deposits and we were on our way again.

Hi, that sounds like a intermittant speed pot, or wig-wam as some people call it, does the throttle have a lot of up and down play ? if so that is the problem because when you go along movement within the stem of the throttle is causing the surge and slow down of power.

it could be that the speed potentiometer is incorrectly set, or could be faulty. this would definately cause the symptoms you describe
best take it to a shop to have it checked.
