My Worcester Danesmoor 12/14 boiler programer has gone?

My worcester danesmoor 12/14 boiler programer has gone,it is fairly old.Can i by pass the old one and instal a external more modern one?I tried to find the original to replace him,but cant be found.Apparantly they dont make them no more.

You can still get these as a spare part.

Or you can wire in an external one instead, your choice - but the wiring is mains voltage and must be done by a sparky or a part p qualified engineer.
