How can I fix my simpson encore 605 6.0kg heavy duty washing machine?

Their is power to the washing machine,however when you press the start button the cycle does not commence,what could be the problem?

I have a similar problem, I washed a pillow in the machine and it seems to have become unbalanced and makes a grumpy grinding noise.

When you press the start button what happens? Do you hear any sounds at all? Do any of the lights stop flashing? Do you have an LCD display in the centre of the panel & if so what is on the display before and after you press the start button?
