DS Lite top screen broken?

My sons DS Lite's top screen is broken. I think it has been pushed too far back as the plastic on the hinges is broken and this seems to have caused the image on the top screen to flicker and/or disappear. Can it be mended or is it cheaper to buy a new one?

i bought a new screen for about a fiver from a japanese shop and it was simple to repair.

Lots of spare DS parts, including top screens. Could be failed ribbon cable (across the hinge). If you're changing the screen you apparently need a Trwing Screwdriver, sold separately.
