How can I fix my Sony USB STreaming video camera DCR-TRV250?

Nothing shows up on the LCD panel or viewfinder. Both screens are black. Yes, I closed the LCD panel before looking in the viewfinder.

sony support posted a news-item about this problem it will repair it free of charge but only until oct 2 2007 call customer information for repair. the link to sony about this problem is below.
